Herbal Infusions
Herbal Infused Oils
Ever wondered how to make your own herbal infusion?
It is easier than you think!
It involves infusing dried herbs into a carrier oil of your choice.
It can have many uses including skincare, haircare and first-aid.
1. Choose only high-quality and organic dried herbs. You can grow them and dry them yourself, or my favorite place to get them online is Mountain Rose Herbs.
2. Choose your carrier oil. My favorite is either jojoba or fractionated coconut oil. You can also use olive oil or almond oil.
3. Make sure your jars (and lids) are clean and dry.
4. Pour your dried herbs into the jar about half-way. Press them down, if necessary.
5. Fill the rest of the jar up with your oil. Make sure that all of your dried herbs are fully submerged. You might have to stir it around a bit to remove any air bubbles. Secure your lid tightly.
6. Leave the jars on your counter for 2-4 weeks. Every few days, gently shake the jar.
7. After a few weeks, strain your infusion by using a fine metal strainer, or cheesecloth, and transfer to a clean jar. Label your jar with the type of herb, oil, and the date.
Now it is ready to use in your skincare and first-aid!
